Stupid iPhone

My Internet connection dropped after thumbing a lenghty post and now it’s gone. That wordpress app screwed up.

Jambalaya

As far as comfort food goes, Jambalaya is high up on my favorites list. A Louisiana Creole dish it’s better than it looks. Anthony Bourdain would certainly state something along the lines of poor folks know how to cook better and point out the cheaper ingredients that make awesome food. That guy knows what he is talking about. Listen to him!

Chili Relleno Casserole

Today was all weird stuff for me again. Funky texture (a bit like tofu) cheesy caserolle with spanish rice, salad and a slice of melon.

Cheese Ebchiladas

Cheese Enchiladas are a pile of melted cheese with filler material: delicious
Together with some Mexican rice it’s a simple and tasty dish. Unfortunately this was the fourth time I had Mexican food in the last time. The gut busting bean gasses are starting to rip my intestines apart.

Chicken Marsalla

Chicken with noodles and carrots was on the menu today. The chicken was dry and the noodles had started to dry up a little, because they sat out too long an I usully have lunch late.
For the first time it was too much for me to finish. Maybe it’s my age or my lack of appetite for the mediocre.

Spaghetti with meat sauce

Spaghetti again. Every childs dream and a cheap food to make. Profit margins are good for the cafeteria when spaghetti are on the menu. The garlic bread makes my breath stink of cold, sweaty boot feet.

Carved Roast Beef

The roast beef looks phantastic. Consisting mostly of cartilage, fat, and some extra tough tendon, it was as tasty as it was unhealthy, shortening my lifespan by several months. Maybe I can make up for it by working out, if I do not get a heart attack on the treadmill first.

Enchilada pie

I have to give our cafeteria credit for being original. Mashing together nachos with ground beef and some cheese and then calling it enchilada pie is a great idea. Fortunately they left the refried beans out, so it didn’t taste half bad.
Looked like crap tasted like Mexican leftovers.

Burger with Clam Chowder

It’s not as disgusting as it sounds. It would have been disgusting had I taken the fries. I am not sure what their schedule for changing the frying oil is, but its defenitely beyond biodiesel grade by now. Sometimes the fries are so rancid that they seem to drip off my plate. Thus I decided to get the clam chowder with my burger. Not a bad idea.

Snails

Today I didn’t eat in the cafeteria. Instead I got snails from Chinatown. I never had snails before, but I got curious when I was on a little trip today, so I decided to skip cafeteria hell in favor of Chinatown snails.

I had expected worse, but if you don’t think about that you are actually eating the entire thing, entrails and whatever else there is, its edible. Snails pretty much taste like clams. Whatever sauce you put them in, thats how they taste. The texture is about the same.

It wasn’t bad, but it took forever to fish the tiny snails from their shells with the elongated toothpicks that came with the meal. Kind of hard if you are really hungry.
