Chicken Tonkatsu

Germans would call this Chicken schnitzel with funny sauce. Chicken Tonkatsu is breaded panfried chicken breast with some Japanese sauce (vaguely reminiscent of teryaki) and sesame seeds on it. It came with steamed rice and roasted veggies which were surprisingly good.

Buttermilk Pork Chops

It’s days like today why I still eat here. It may not look like it, but this food was awesome. Thanks to all my recent salad eating, I didn’t even feel bad stuffing my face with this delightful treat. Well done underpaid and underappreciated cafeteria chef.

Yet another salad

It is not like I suddenly discovered my love for salads, but sometimes all the other choices are so bad, that I rather have chicken breast on salad. Unfortunately I confused the blue cheese dressing with ranch. I had to scrape the dressing from the salad after I poured it on, but the rotten taste remained.

Chardonnay Chicken

Inventing tasty names for funny food. Something like that seems to be in the job description of cafeteria chefs. “Chardonnay chicken served over pasta” is a very upscale description for “we puked on your Spaghetti”.

BBQ chicken salad

It may not look like much, but I did really enjoy today’s lunch. I already lost nearly 8 pounds since I started eating a little healthier. It doesn’t mean eating less or less tasty, just beiing aware what I eat. My body is my temple. I won’t fill it with junk anymore.

Jambalaya

As far as comfort food goes, Jambalaya is high up on my favorites list. A Louisiana Creole dish it’s better than it looks. Anthony Bourdain would certainly state something along the lines of poor folks know how to cook better and point out the cheaper ingredients that make awesome food. That guy knows what he is talking about. Listen to him!

Falafel with whole wheat tortillia

Following my new healthy food bible isn’t that easy if all I have is cafeteria lunches. That’s why I decided to go with the vegetarian dish, Falafel. Much to my surprise, I could even pick whole wheat tortillias for the wraps. Since falafel are always kind of dry, I loaded up on the salsa, which turned out to be as hot as belzebubs soul.
